OTTAWA – Today, New Democrat Fisheries and Oceans Critic Fin Donnelly (New Westminster-Coquitlam) moved to protect British Columbia’s wild salmon by strengthening the Fisheries Act to require fish farms operating on BC's coast to make the transition to closed containment systems.

OTTAWA - Today in the House of Commons, NDP MP Fin Donnelly (New Westminster-Coquitlam) called on the government to deliver the 2,500 additional police officers promised by the Conservative government over four years ago.

Last month Donnelly met with representatives from the Canadian Police Association who want to see stable, long-term funding for these positions.
“It’s time this government delivered on their 2006 commitment” said Donnelly. “Police departments cannot hire, train or retain new officers without stable funding in place”.

OTTAWA – New Westminster-Coquitlam MP Fin Donnelly thinks his riding name could sound sweeter.

“Port Moody’s name has not been included in this riding’s name since it’s creation in 2006” said Donnelly, “as a distinct and important part of the riding, I’m hoping to correct that”.

Following through on a commitment he made during the by-election, Donnelly is making the riding name change his first Private Member's Bill.

Homelessness has more than doubled in the Tri-Cites over the past five years, expediting the need for a permanent emergency shelter; while demand for affordable, private rental housing continues to outstrip available stocks.
